Jerome Sturgeleski is an avid outdoors person and loves to stay out in his yard after dark. He lives in Minnesota so time outdoors is limited to just a few months of the year. After completing a landscaping project he thought the must be a way to light it up so he could enjoy in on those evenings out. He added some solar lights and liked it so well that he decided to start a website and sell solar lights so others could also add them and enjoy their outdoor spaces well into the evening. He started a website in May of 2005 called http://www.solarlightspro.com to allow people to see what types that are available.
When consider adding after dark lighting you need to evaluate the different types that are available. There are definite advantages and disadvantages to whatever kind you choose. There are some factors that need to be addressed before delving into any project like this.
One of the main things to consider is the area you want to light and if there is sunlight that hits it part of the day. If the area you are considering lighting is wooded or in heavy shade most of the day, solar lighting may not be the answer. For these types of applications, you will have to have the lighting hard-wired.
If the area does get at least some sun, you can consider solar lighting. The main advantage of solar lighting is that you can merely take them out of the box, put them in areas where you think you want lights and sit back and enjoy.
All solar lights run off re-chargeable batteries and usually are included when you buy them. Just pop them in and position the lights so the solar panel that is usually attached to them is in the sun. From that point forward you are set. The batteries, fully charged, glow nicely throughout the night. If you have a solar spot light, your designated subject will be illuminated throughout the night. Solar lights also come in security lighting and motion detecting lights. Imagine being able to install a motion detecting light where hard-wired lights may be impractical.
Solar lighting is a great alternative to hard-wired lights. They can be installed the same day you get them. That is a great advantage when you need lights installed quickly.

They only require direct sunlight and they will give you many hours of lighting pleasure.

6. Solar security lights. There are even solar motion detector lights. Imagine having one of these in your far ranges of your property and not even have to run wires to it.
7. Solar frog lights. There are solar lights in the shapes of frogs that can light up areas around your back yard ponds or just out in your yard.
8. Solar dog lights. Just like solar frog lights, there are lights affixed to dogs. These types of lights are usually lantern type lights that you can put almost anywhere. What a great conversation piece.
9. Miscellaneous other solar lights. There are many other types of lights, which would need an exhaustive list to convey them. To name a few, there are solar owls, squirrels, angels, fairies and many other shapes.

A well-lit yard gives you the option of keeping the party going after the sun goes down. It adds safety and security to your property. By adding outdoor solar lighting to your yard it allows you an inexpensive and quick way to give your home a new look. Here are some tips for adding lighting to your yard.
Before deciding on a certain type of solar light, take a walk around your yard during the day and decide what area should be lit. There are many things to consider when deciding what to light. Keep in mind that the fewer elements you choose to light, the stronger the visual impact will be. Perhaps the easiest area to decide what to light would be your pathways around your yard. Areas around doors are obvious places that need lighting, as well as areas for entertaining. You should consider adding motion detector lights for security in areas that you don’t want to spotlight.
When you decide what you want to see at night, walk to where you think people will be viewing it most often. You might want to see some objects from your living room, while others you may want to see from the street. Make sure that nothing obstructs that view, then place your lights to highlight the side that will be seen the most. During the day, the sun lights everything from the same angle, but at night, you can choose where the light will go. Use different solarlighting styles to accent the unique characteristics of the object you’re lighting. For example, a unique bush will look better lit up than its leaves, but a rose bush may look gorgeous lighting up its flower.
Here are some solar lighting techniques:
Down lighting lights a large area, either for security or for entertaining, by placing a large spotlight near an area around your home.
Up lighting points low-set spotlights upwards to light architecture or plants.
Wall Lighting uses lanterns hanging on walls to light a high activity area.
Spotlighting is intense lighting that provides plenty of light to an area.
Silhouetting focuses light on a wall or fence behind an object, usually a bush, giving a dramatic effect.
Cross Lighting focuses two or more spotlights onto opposite sides of a tree, bush or sculpture, either at a low level or even height, to reveal texture on the object.
As you can see, there are many ways to use solar lighting in a wide variety of applications. They are very versatile and can be placed anywhere.

Solar lights are extremely interesting because they are almost like mini-satellites. They generate and store their own power during the day and then release it at night. They are just like a satellite that stores solar energy while it is on the sunny side of the planet and then uses that energy when it’s dark. Light sensors turn the lights on at disk and off at dawn.
Solar lights create a focused ambient to your garden, patio or garden. They come in various different type that can be used to beautify your yard and give it a warm, cozy feeling. They provide lighting effects for pathways, ponds, gardens and patios. Solar Lights create areas of interest all year long.
They are easily installed and do not require any external wiring. They are totally free-standing. All you do is fit the components together, press the spike into the ground or screw onto a wall mounting or place in a strategic place to give the affect you desire.
They charge during the day to generate a reserve life of 8 hours to light your home’s outdoor area. They are constructed of various different materials, including copper, plastic or stainless steel. They are sold in individual pieces or sold in sets of varying numbers. These types of lights add a touch of class to your space while providing cost efficient safety and accenting to the home.
Solar lights can add that final touch to that landscaping project you just completed. Solar lighting can be used to outline your entire property without having someone come in and lay wiring. They can be moved around until you get your desired affect.
Solar lights can be a real enjoyable addition to any area.

Lamp posts have played key roles in some of our favorite movies, books and stories. Just imagine Gene Kelly dancing in the rain, or the four children who visit Narnia and you’ll see how enchanted we have become by lamp posts. They seem like magical things for many reasons – casting light into dark places, standing resolute in all kinds of weather and generally being decorative and reliable all at the same time.
Unfortunately they can usually be far too costly and difficult for an average homeowner to acquire and use…until now. Today’s solar technology has advanced to the point that it can be used to operate lamp posts. This means that homeowners can take advantage of the beauty of the fixtures and the effective lighting they provide.
Most solar lamp posts come in a variety of styles, and usually offer the shopper a single, double or triple bulb design. This means they can be used by a homeowner to create a gentle but distinctive ambience in their dooryard or driveway, or they can be used as a brilliant and effective lighting fixture to flood an area in the consistent light from LED bulbs – usually up to thirty feet in every direction.
In addition to good lucks and beneficial features, most solar lamp posts are designed for year round operation and are constructed with materials and methods that make them just as durable as their heavy, hardwired and costly counterparts. There too is another benefit, as they are easy to install and entirely free to operate. They can come equipped with a built in solar collector, or they also have panels that can be mounted in direct sun from which they feed power to the lamp post that can be placed in a shadier area.
In today’s economy many “luxury” items and hobbies are being set aside until things turn around, but with solar lamp posts and lighting a homeowner doesn’t have to eliminate home improvement plans from their budget. The fixtures require their simple installation, which allows the units to be bolted in place, and that is it! No expensive visit from an electrician who has to supply electricity to the site where the lamp will reside, no monthly electricity bill, and no constant need to replace burnt out bulbs.
Solar lamp posts present an ideal solution for anyone looking to create that magical lighting that only a lamp post delivers. They can be turned on or off at will, come at an affordable and reasonable cost and provide a hassle free lighting option for many years to come.
