Protecting the investment that you have made in your wardrobe is very important.  Clothes can last for many years if they are properly cared for and stored when not in use.  Use this guide to make sure that you are doing what you can to keep your clothing fresh when in storage, wrinkle free, and in good shape.

1)  Store clothing on hangers if possible.  Rolling garment racks are inexpensive and give you a great place to store your off-season clothes when they are not in use.  Suits and coats especially need to be hung to avoid losing shape in the shoulders.  Covering your garment rack with a zip up cover will keep your clothes free of dust.

2)  Storing clothes often brings up the concern of moths, mold, musty odors and mildew.  Using cedar hangers will take care of all of these things.  Cedar hangers absorb moisture from the air keeping your clothes from getting damp.  This is especially important if you store you clothes in a garage, basement, or seldom used room.  Moisture grows mold, which is responsible for the musty odor that you smell after storing your clothes in a cardboard box.  Cedar hangers also help clothes keep their shape and deodorize to keep everything smelling fresh.

3)  Save space by using metal hangers to hang things where shoulder shape isn’t an issue.  Metal hangers are super slim, lightweight, and are a lot stronger than wire hangers.  They fit tightly together to help keep clothes from moving around and getting wrinkled during storage.

4)  Use vacuum space saving bags for items that should not hang, like sweaters.  You can toss in some used dryer sheets to keep sweaters and comforters smelling great while in storage.  New dryer sheets can leave a white, waxy deposit on your clothes, so used ones are best.  Using vacuum storage bags helps save space and also takes care of the moisture issue.

5)  Items can be stored anywhere around the house.  Shallow containers can hold clothing underneath your beds and couches.  If you toss in some used dryer sheets and cedar closet accessories, such as cedar planks or cedar balls, you won’t have to worry about musty odors, mold and mildew.

6)  Only store clean clothing.  Sweaters, suits and dresses hold body oils that you may not notice initially.  But, when these oils are left on clothing in storage, it can cause damage and make things smell.  The body oils also attract moths who lay their eggs on spots like this.  Clean or dry clean your clothing before you store it.  Use the right hangers, like cedar hangers, and your clothing will be protected all season long.

Tips To Save Energy and  HomeMade Solar Panels

I know that most of us who decide to use there own Homemade Solar energy panels are really interested in saving money. I know, I was the same way when i built my first homemade soalr panels.

And it worked – I saved lots of money constantly.

Save Money Tips and Green Energy Ideas

But I always wondered how much MORE money I could save if I decided to do more around my home to cut down on our actual energy usage. And so I started to do things that would slow down the energy meter.

And I figured that there were some poeple that might feel like cutting down there own energy bills – whether they use solar panels or not.

One of the best ways to look at cutting back on energy bills, is to think about ways that we can cut back on everyday things. Like lights and water usage.

Shorter Showers

And the first thing I did, was to quit taking long showers. (Oh yeah, and using baths is a great way to use WAY TOO MUCH water too) Personally, I used to make it mandatory to take  25 -30 minute showers, everyday.

But I knew that I didnt NEED those long showers. And they were the first thing to go. We all know that there is NO REASON to take showers for longer than 10-15 minutes. I mean, are we THAT dirty?

No, were not.

Energy Efficient Items

Another great idea, is to replace regular items, like light bulbs with the energy efficient products -like CFL bulbs. They may cost more at first, but as always, they will save you more in the long run. They use LESS power and you dont have to change them NEARLY as much.

Space Heaters

And when its cold outside, many of use start using space heaters. Trust me, this is not the best idea. Did you know that electricity costs MORE THAN GAS? So try to unplug one of those space heaters. You will see the difference.

And another thing that may seem obvious, is using the programmable thermostats. Many people are using them already -but if your not, make the decision to get one. They do not cost alot of money -and they are very easy to install. Heck, alot of times, they can be installed by the store you get them from -usually Home Depot or Lowes. it just depends on where you are from and the store you go to.

These are just some simple ideas that will maek a huge difference in your everyday lives. And throughout the year, the money you save will add up -just keep track of your bills.

You will see the difference.

I hope that this article helped out or was asomewhat inspiring to you

Making space in a cramped closet is no picnic, but it can be a lot easier than you think.  Follow these steps for making the task run more smoothly and make more space in your closet than you ever imagined possible!

1)  Traditional closets waste a lot of space.  Consider removing the old “rod and shelf” and put up some inexpensive shelving.  There are so many options on the market today and most are very sturdy and easy to install.

2)  Donate what you can to charity.  Most people report having a lot of the same clothes in their closet that have been there for ten years!  You really should go through and get rid of out of date clothes.  You probably rotate between your favorite outfits and ignore the rest.  Slimming down your belongings is a quick and easy way to make more room.

3)  Store sentimental clothing outside of the closet.  If you must keep your prom dress for twenty years, consider having it heir loomed.  Most cleaners offer this service.  They will clean the dress and then seal it in an acid free container that will keep your dress in great shape.  Plus you can store that box in the attic, under a bed or in the garage without worrying about the dress.

4)  Store out of season clothing rather than leaving it in the closet.  A rolling garment rack with a cover is a great way to store clothing without taking it off of the hanger.  Your clothes will be protected from dust, wrinkles and musty smells.  You can keep the rack in a spare bedroom, garage, basement, or even just in a corner of your room.  But, getting those clothes out of the way will be priceless when it comes to creating some space and staying organized.

5)  Create a system that will help you keep things clear.  Hang all of your clothes hangers backwards on the bar.  As you do laundry and hang up things that you have worn, hang them the right way.  When the season comes to an end and you are ready to switch out your wardrobe, give away the clothes that are still hanging backwards.  This will help you to get rid of things that you don’t wear without wondering if you’ll ever use them again.  If you didn’t use them this year, chances are you won’t miss it.

6)  Use clever ways of making space.  Using space saving hangers is a quick and easy way to create a lot of space in a very short amount of time.  Space saving hangers, like velvet hangers, are very slim, yet sturdy.  They grip clothing to keep it from ending up on the floor, help clothing keep its shape, and fit closely together to make a lot of room.  You can even add specialty hangers like pants hangers that hold a lot of items on one hanger.  Cascading hooks and other closet accessories will help you to create even more space as needed.
