Gardening is a great hobby. There is nothing quite like spending long days outdoors, digging in the earth, planting seeds by hand and watching your garden come to live. If you have a home garden that is rather new and consists of nothing more than a rectangular plot in your yard, you should consider adding a garden wall to give your garden character and charm.

Building a wall around your garden can be a simple affair or it can be a well planned out job that is rather involved. If you have a limited budget, perhaps you would like to build your own wall out of flat flagstones. This involves digging a six inch trench along the edges of the garden and then filling that trench with the largest, flattest stones to form the base of the wall. Then you only need to stack the medium sized stones to make the body of the wall. Use the smallest stones as fillers to tuck into the crevices. This type of wall adds an incredible amount of charm to any garden and provides the area with a very natural looking border.

Another budget-minded border you can use to define your garden is garden fencing. Most home and garden centers carry garden fencing that is ideal for installing around the edges of both flower and vegetable gardens. This type of fencing is normally made of wood or metal and there are a great many styles and varieties available. Garden fencing can be as simple or as ornate as you wish. It is very easy to put in the fencing yourself using common household tools.

If you love the looks of masonry brick, then you can make a brick garden wall in virtually any shape that you desire. Brick walls stand up to extreme exposure to the elements such as rain, snow, freezing temperatures and direct sunlight. Using salvaged brick for the wall will give your garden old-world charm and used brick is normally much less expensive than new brick.

Garden walls not only look great and give your garden a lot of definition but they also serve as garden protection. Neighborhood children, dogs and cats will remain outside of your garden if you erect a wall around it.

Walls add structure and style to gardens. You do not need any experience whatsoever to construct your own wall, but you do need to have a strong back. If you live in a city you may want to check with your local building inspector to see if your town has building codes you must adhere to before going ahead with the construction.

If you are a gardener and spend a lot of time outdoors planning your vegetable or flower garden then you share that love of the smell of freshly turned earth with many people who have ‘green thumbs’. Springtime is a much anticipated time for the average gardener as there are plots to plan and seeds and bulbs to purchase.

Perhaps you have both an garden in your yard and an greenhouse on your property. If you find that you are running out of room for your herbs, foliage, fruits or vegetables then maybe it is time to purchase one of the many types of vertical growing systems that are the market. This type of system allows you to stack pots in vertical towers that allows for very high density production in a far smaller amount of space. You can grow most anything vertically. Broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries, greens, ivy, peppers, eggplants, basil corn or flowers thrive in this type of space saving growing system.

Gardening on vertical walls is commonly done by people who have limited garden space. A vegetable wall can easily be created by planting vegetables such as beans and peppers next to a wall and providing them with a trellis of some sort so that they can climb vertically. Not only will you save an incredible amount of space, but having vegetables grow upwards in this manner make it much easier to pick the beans or peppers once they are ripened.

Another space-saving idea for a garden of any size is to use live plants as edging. When we think of garden edging, brick, stone or metal edging usually comes to mind. But to the gardener with limited space, he or she will cleverly use herbs as garden edging to define areas of the garden.

If the idea of using herbs to edge your garden is appealing to you, then be sure to choose herbs that can withstand high traffic. Select herbs that are rather compact and that are easy to cut back if they should outgrow. The best choices for edging with herbs are thyme, parsley, sage and chives.

No matter how small of a garden area you have, you can make the most out of that space by utilizing some of the methods mentioned here. There is no reason not to grow plants vertically, use trellises whenever possible and make use of live and edible plants as a great way to bring definition to your garden.

 1. Oak floors maintain their strength and color for years and years and they blend inviting warmth with long-lasting durability that many people find very appealing.

If you want to transform your home into a modern-day, warm and dramatic dwelling then you should take a serious look at solid oak flooring. Oak floors are quite easy to maintain and clean and they can take the daily abuses that live throws its way as it is very hard wearing and robust. Oak flooring is the flooring of choice for those who are looking for a feeling and sense of permanence-be it in a home environment or an office setting. Oak flooring adds an air of class and sophistication to any room as well as adding strength, as it withstands daily usage remarkably well.

If you are unsure of the difference between solid oak flooring and engineered wood flooring, the difference is really quite simple. Engineered flooring is made by bonding a layer of solid wood-the top layer, to a base made of plywood. This type of flooring is not greatly effected by humidity and can be installed in a basement, ground floor or top floor levels. The solid oak floors are made from one piece of solid oak and it is available with a variety of finishes such as brushed, oiled, lacquered, or unfinished. A solid oak floor is advantageous in the fact that it can reduce dust within a home, it is very durable and robust and it will always look beautiful. The disadvantages to solid wood flooring is that since it is a natural product, it can change dimensionally if subjected to a lot of variations in heat, moisture and humidity. Solid flooring must be installed using a type of flexible adhesive so that the floor is able to adapt to these temperature and moisture variations.

A wood floor adds an incredible amount of warmth and charm to any home. Not only is it very easy to care for but it is hypo-allergenic and environmentally sound. Adding wood flooring to a home can greatly increase its resale value and make the home’s interior appear much more welcoming.

When selecting wood flooring, keep in mind that not all hardwoods are equally hard. In rooms that get heavy foot traffic, the harder woods like oak, maple and ash make the most sense. Wood flooring comes in widths ranging from strips under three inches wide to planks. If you decide to install a custom floor, planks can be cut to any width you choose and the width of your boards are all dependent upon what type of look you are after.

If you are planning on installing new floors in your home but are not sure of the type of flooring you want, consider ceramic floor tiles. Tiles made of ceramic are ideal for flooring in a kitchen, bathroom and recreation room as they are hard wearing and easy to keep clean. Ceramic floor tiles are available in a wide array of colors and textures and they are easy to install with just a few tools like tile cutters and adhesives.

Ceramic tile flooring can create nearly any look you wish including rustic, modern and southwest. Due to the ease of maintenance and its longevity, homeowners are making it their number one choice. Ceramic tile floors are stain resistant and do not discolor with age if you follow the cleaning instructions. You will never need to wax a ceramic tile floor either as they maintain their original shine for years.

It can be a bit overwhelming when shopping for ceramic tile as there are so many variations and a great deal of manufacturers, but with a few helpful hints you should find the job to be much easier. When considering what style of tile you want, concentrate on the look you wish to achieve. If for example you want the room to have a rustic and warm appearance than you should look for tiles with a stone-like, natural look. Stone-look tiles are so realistic looking that they are very often mistaken for real stones. If you wish to accent the finished look of your floor, then consider looking at coordinating and/or contrasting borders. If you are out for a formal and classy look, then take a look at the glossy, marbleized tiles. A marbleized floor with color coordinated walls partially covered with glass mosaic tiles offer a striking and sophisticated look to any kitchen. Do keep in mind that the marbleized tiles are very slick when wet so if you have active children in your home this type of flooring could prove to be hazardous.

When designing your tile flooring choose the size of the tiles according to the size of the room. For example, if you want to give an area an open look, larger tiles will offer that effect. Be careful not to choose tiles which are too small as they can make a room look too ‘busy’ and will be distracting. Many homeowners actually find that mixing and matching sizes can add a lot of variety to a room. Let your imagination go to work and be sure to look at all of your options when choosing tiles.

Decorating your home should be one of the most enjoyable things you do. Our homes reflect who we are and how we want to live our lives. I like to surround myself with the colors I like. My home is my castle and I am the queen and it is the one place that things will be to my liking. It is my private place. We had been planning on building a house for about 10 years and I bought a new book or magazine every few days. I had a whole list of ideas and books with lots of marked pages. And I tried to use them all. It took us 2 years to build and by the time the house was done there was not must left for interior decorating. Well being determined like I am I got my books out and started researching what I could do with stuff I already had and how I could make good use of yard sale items.

Decorate With picture Frames

It surprises me the number of things we can do with picture frames. I started buying all the frames I could find at yard sales. In some when the pictures weren’t to my liking I just went to the local craft store and found some beautiful prints for 4 or 5 dollars. I added a nice mat and I now have some lovely pictures that I get compliments on all the time. In one room I just hung the bare frames. I used all shapes and different finishes. There does not have to be a pattern to this. After you get them hung stand back and look at them. Now imagine what they can say to you. I went and found some small wooden letters and painted them black. I now added them to my wall in and around my frames and the effect was stunning. Some examples of the words I used were imagine, love, learn, home, and ect…The point is that they don’t have to make a sentence , they only need reflect what you want them to. The idea can be strictly yours. In my master bedroom closet I have the words “put your big girl panties on and deal with it” That is the first thing I see when I go to the closet to get my cloths and it makes me smile every time I see it. Now some people have asked me why would you put that in a closet? Well remember what I told you earlier, I am the queen of my castle and that is where I wanted it. So there is where it is. You don’t have to play by any rules and certainly should not.

Use Cheap Home Decorating ideas

Your home should reflect what you want it to. You can use cheap home decorating ideas by looking at what other people are doing and duplicate it with cheaper items that have the same look.I found that looking at pictures in magazines gave me some really good ideas. Sometimes people will say oh that’s so pretty, where did you get that and I’ll have to confess that I picked it up at a yard sale and painted it to match my stuff. I have some really good and inexpensive ideas so come join me and learn about Alway remember That ” Your Story Begins At Home ” Use cheap home decor that looks like a million dollars.

I have been decorating homes now for about 15 years. My husband and I buy houses and fix them up to resell. I have been decorating them and trying all different paint colors. We just built our own new house and I tried to use every idea I had. Needless to say by the time the interior decorating started our budget was drained. I had to decorate on a very tight budget but it can be done.
