Braided rugs are extremely versatile in the ability to add color and warmth to any room in a home. They have been doing this a long time since pioneer women first brightened their homes with rugs made out of scraps of old fabrics. This can be procured in any shape and size ranging from shabby chic to French country and to a country cottage look.
A good area rug lasts for a long time and requires least maintenance. Another most typical trait of these rugs is that their vast assortments of shapes are formed by putting different braiding styles to work. These rugs can be best purchased in area rugs online, given the vast choice available, offering acute flexibility to the buyer. Online shopping can help you buy classic rugs which can be found in a variety of weaves, shades, dimensions, and shapes.
Conventional braided area rugs are mainly available in oval and round shapes. These rugs can even be bought in the shapes of squares and long braided runners. People with a romantic inclination of mind can opt for heart shaped rugs which are quaintly quixotic and are incredibly popular amongst the youth. The shape of a braided rug is directly proportional to the kind of braid used in it. Another very fashionable shape for these kinds of rugs is rectangular. Prepared by smaller squares, this rug closely resembles the mesmerizing beauty of hodgepodge quilts.
There are no center cores in braided rag rugs like the ones in woven braids. In the latter type, the yarn is spun about center cores. An average rag rug braid gets made using four braids. The flat rag braids however can have somewhere between four to twelve braids constituted of cloth. The most commonly used type of braids is ribbon or flat braids more often than not. These are preferred over the round ones for properly made flat rag braids may have a width of as much as two inches even.
The less expensive and bulk produced braided rugs however use round braids. Each braid constitutes of four yarn weaves draped around the firm center core. But the braids of these cheaper rugs tend to wear through quite early and expose the center core of the rug irrespective of their beautiful shapes. Hence, to purchase rugs that are braided, quality should be the only determinant.
The ribbon braids or the flat braids are however much more durable because they are made very differently. The cloth or the yarn to be used in making these braids is generally braided around two middle cores running parallel. It is because clutching the braid to any unswerving weave is somewhat extra tricky than weaving about a core with a single center. The beautiful fine braided area rug gives you a quality of timeless element in decorating your home.

There may be many rug pads that are called Superior yet there are very few that are actually superior. A Superior rug pad will protect and prolong the life of any area rug. A Superior rug pad will protect any hard floor surface. A Superior rug pad will add comfort and insulation and a Superior rug pad will not damage any hard floor surface, including hardwood floors and all wood floors.
Superior rug pads should prolong the life of any area rug
One purpose of a quality rug pad is to protect the rug from premature wear. A solid Superior rug pad that is dense enough will do this. The density plays a role in keeping the back of an area rug from excessive rubbing and wear against a hard floor. If the rug pad is not dense enough, but rather more spongy, then the rug is not protected well enough. Here, a recycled 40 ounce felt rug pad is Superior in that the 40 ounces makes it extremely dense to protect the back of any rug.
Superior rug pads should protect hardwood and wood floors from damage
Another purpose of a rug pad is to protect the floor. Many rugs have a rough backing and this could scratch the floor underneath. Using a Superior solid and dense rug pad will act as a barrier between the rug and floor and prevent any scratches to the floor. A dense Superior rug pad will also prevent furniture from making indentations to your floor by resisting the weight of the furniture.
Superior non slip rug pads should prevent slipping
For those rugs that tend to slide, a Superior felt jute and natural rubber rug pad is best. Here, the felt jute surface acts as it does with the Superior rug pad mentioned above and the rubber lower surface prevents slipping, avoiding any accidents. The rubber should be a natural layer of real rubber and not a rubber like substance or spray adhesive.
Superior rug pads should insulate against noise and cold
The 40 ounce recycled jute Superior rug pad provides insulation against noise and cold. This is especially important in apartments with noise from neighbors. Here, again, the density of the rug pad reduces noise and sounds as well as insulating against cold.
Use a Superior rug pad under any area rug for the best protection to the rug, the floor and the home. the proper rug pad will prove to be a small investment compared to the benefits received froma quality rug pad. You may visit Rug Pad Corner for more on quality Superior rug pads.

Trees in Houston, Texas may show signs of damage this spring as a result of freezing weather in the winter.
In late 2009, the weather was unusually cold for the Texas Gulf Coast. In December in particular, arctic blasts affected Houston, and this southern city of mild winters experienced a rare snowfall on Dec. 4. This icy weather damaged the cycling system of many Houston area trees, according to Houston arborist Louis Flory of Ability Tree Experts.
Trees undergo what is called a cycling system on annual basis, with trees typically losing their leaves in the fall and growing them back in the spring. However, Flory points out that in late 2009, the parts of trees that circulate food and water through the trunk were frozen. These parts, known as the cycling tissue, must be functioning to enable trees to undergo cycles at full capacity.
Therefore, trees that should be budding this spring and producing leaves may not do so on time, a phenomenon known as a late bloom. Many trees experienced internal damage from the freeze, and signs of this damage may only be noticeable in the coming months.
Flory said palm trees in particular are experiencing visible signs of damage such as brown leaves. Without the internal system to circulate nutrients, the canopy cannot be property produced. Furthermore, trees that were damage before this winter are even more likely to have problems in the spring and summer of 2010.
Beyond late blooms and poor canopy production, Houston trees damaged in the winter are also more vulnerable to infestations by insects or diseases, said Flory.
To keep from losing your valuable trees, you should consult with an arborist or tree care specialist, said Flory. A tree care specialist can diagnose problems in trees and offer a range of professional solutions including the following:
Deep Root Feeding – This process involves the injection of fertilizers directly into tree root zones at extremely high pressures. Deep root feeding can provide trees with vital nutrients exactly where they are most effective.
Tree Spraying– This is a process of applying treatments that are powerful both for fighting insects and for restoring the health of trees. Only a licensed arborist can apply the most effective treatments.
There are many other solutions a tree care specialist can provide. If it appears that your own trees aren’t producing leaves when they should, your hunch could be correct. The good news is the right treatment can in fact rehabilitate your trees and keep them green and healthy during the upcoming spring and summer months.

When you get down to it, the way your place is paved can have a greater affect than many realize on how well the environment fares. Here’s Why:
The right road, street and parking lot paving can lower stormwater runoff and so reduce pollution. Many people are asking the people in charge of paving to consider using permeable interlocking concrete pavement (PICP) on upcoming projects. They look like popular concrete paving stones but are set in with small spaces between them. The space is filled with small stones to allow runoff to filter down and into the soil. They come in a variety of styles and colours to suit most places and purposes.
In Addition, The Pavers:
• Reduce runoff from common rainstorms by as much as 100 percent; eliminates surface puddles and flooding;
• Promote street tree survival;
• Reduce ice hazards because snow melts faster;
• Have a 50-year life cycle for surface;
• Are compatible with underground stormwater storage systems, many slower-draining clay soils and cold climates;
• Preserve wooded areas that would otherwise be cleared for stormwater detention or retention ponds;
• Contribute to urban heat island reduction through evaporation and reflective, light coloured pavers;
• Are highly visible;
• Reduce the need for continuous expansion of drainage infrastructure;
• May be used on sloped site with proper design;
• Simplify surface and subsurface repairs; no unsightly patches or weakened pavement from utility cuts;
• Can be used for traffic calming;
• Enhance property values.
What Can I Do?
Contact your local municipal officials and make sure they know that permeable pavements can reduce stormwater runoff pollution.

Irrigation plays an important part in Agriculture. Irrigation is the supply of water for the crops to grow. Man used various methods from the beginning to ensure the supply of water for required for cultivation. From manual to machines, technology has advanced a lot as far as agriculture is concerned.
If there is sufficient amount of timely rains, irrigation is not required, but since the rains cannot be depended, water has to be supplied to the crops through irrigation. Lack of sufficient water will affect the yield, and lead to reduction in the yield and reduction in the quality of the crop.
There are various types of irrigation like, surface irrigation, localized irrigation eg. drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, sub-irrigation and manual irrigation. To have to choose an irrigation system depending on the crop, on the labor available, depending on the soil, availability of water, size of the land requiring irrigation, availabilty of power source etc.
For the past many years, a great transformation has taken place in agricultural cultivation, from the ancient or traditional irrigation to perennial irrigation being adopted by the farmers, which was found to be very rewarding and satisfactory. Farmers all over the world started adopting this type of irrigation.
Now for those who don’t know what is this is, perennial irrigation is the supply of water in accordance to the requirement of the crop from reservoirs, canals, dams and rivers. Because of this, water was available throughout the year. In Egypt, the water from the river Nile was regulated to the fields.
The perennial irrigation system has helped in producing high quality crops and yield was available throughout the year. But it has got some demerits also. This type of irrigation increases moisture in the soil which will increase pests and since cultivation is done throughout the year, the soil gets degraded.
