LG's New SIGNATURE Fridge Uses Voice AI, Debuts at IFA 2026

LG Electronics used its IFA 2026 booth in Berlin to show a refrigerator that responds to spoken requests, a new mid-size all-in-one washer-dryer built for European kitchens, and its first-ever hair dryer. The announcement, dated 4 September 2026 on LG’s global newsroom, names four genuinely new appliances alongside three already covered in an earlier LG release. None of the four has a confirmed European price or on-sale date yet.

What is new about the SIGNATURE fridge?

LG’s next-generation SIGNATURE refrigerator adds LLM-based conversational AI, letting a shopper ask it questions in natural language rather than tapping through a menu, on a 6.8-inch LCD front display. LG also claims an “AI Fresh” mode that starts pre-cooling the interior up to two hours before it anticipates the door being opened, based on a household’s own usage pattern. LG has not published an independent accuracy figure for that prediction, so treat the two-hour claim as the manufacturer’s own description of the feature rather than a tested result.

Why does a 25-inch WashTower matter?

LG’s WashTower stacks a washer and heat-pump dryer into one single-body unit, and the company says the line has sold more than 3.2 million units worldwide to date, a scale claim worth noting on its own. The new 25-inch version sits between LG’s existing 24-inch and 27-inch models, a size LG says was chosen specifically to fit European kitchen and utility-room dimensions and cabinetry, where a few centimetres can decide whether a machine fits under a worktop at all. Both drum units use LG’s Inverter Direct Drive motor technology.

What else did LG show?

The AirDew is LG’s first hair dryer, using what the company calls Triple Airfluidics technology to draw in and accelerate airflow for faster drying at a lower stated weight, with magnetic, swappable nozzles and a rotating plug for easier cable handling at the socket. Separately, LG’s next-generation SIGNATURE downdraft hood retracts into the worktop and uses a motion sensor to start and stop extraction without the cook touching a control, behind a minimalist glass front panel.

What did LG leave out?

The same release also names the LG Fit & Max washer and dryer pair, the Fit & Max French-door fridge, and the Fit & Max dishwasher. Those are not new: LG detailed the same Fit & Max lineup in an IFA 2026 preview it published on 20 August 2026, already covered on this site. Only the Fit & Max washer carries a stated timeline in the new release, “scheduled for a European launch this year,” and even that is a claim from LG’s own marketing copy, not an independently confirmed retail date.

What should a shopper take away?

None of the four newly-shown items, the SIGNATURE fridge, the 25-inch WashTower, the AirDew, or the SIGNATURE hood, has a confirmed EU price, energy-label class, or on-sale date as of this release. A shopper interested in the WashTower’s new 25-inch size in particular should hold off on planning a kitchen fit-out around it until LG confirms exact external dimensions on a market-specific product page, since “tailored for European spaces” is a stated design goal here, not yet a published spec sheet.
