Bosch's HomeCafé Serie 4 Espresso Machine Arrives This Month

Bosch will put its first semi-automatic portafilter espresso machine, the HomeCafé Serie 4, on shop shelves in September 2026, the company said in a press release timed to its IFA 2026 stand in Berlin. It was one of several new products Bosch detailed at its “Factory of Quality” exhibit on 2 September, alongside an expanded air fryer range, a new entry in its reduced-carbon Green Collection, and a combined vacuum-and-mop cleaner.

What does the HomeCafé Serie 4 actually do?

Unlike a fully automatic bean-to-cup machine, the HomeCafé Serie 4 is built around a 58mm stainless steel portafilter, the same size used on professional café machines, so the user grinds, doses and tamps the coffee themselves. Bosch specifies an integrated, removable grinder with 30 grind settings and five dosing presets, a thermoblock heating system with PID control that holds the brewing temperature between 90°C and 96°C in 2-degree steps, and a 15-bar pump. An analogue pressure gauge shows extraction pressure in real time, and a manual milk frother handles cappuccinos and lattes. The machine measures 33.8cm wide, 34.7cm high and 41cm deep, small enough for a standard worktop corner, and includes automatic descaling reminders. Bosch has not disclosed a price.

What else is new in Bosch’s IFA lineup?

The same “Quality for Everyday Life” release lists a handful of other additions, all pitched around Bosch’s long-running durability message rather than one headline gadget:

• Air fryers. Bosch is adding new models spanning a 4-litre compact Series 2 for small kitchens, a 12-litre two-drawer Double Stack, a Series 4 Double Drawer with two independent 4.5-litre drawers, and a Double Flex with a 10-litre drawer that splits into two cooking zones. No prices or an exact on-sale date were given for the range.
• A freestanding freezer with a reworked door. Bosch’s new Flex-Door concept lets owners reposition the door’s storage compartments individually, fitting larger frozen items without adding external size to the appliance.
• Green Collection ovens. Bosch’s Green Collection, previously limited to fridge-freezer combinations, now also covers ovens. Bosch states the Green Collection oven is built from production materials with a 20 percent lower carbon footprint than its standard equivalent, a figure it attributes to a specific comparison against its own HBG7764B1 oven, calculated under the ISO 14067 carbon-footprint methodology.
• OneFlow wet-and-dry vacuum cleaner. A single-pass vacuum-and-mop tool that Bosch says covers up to 150 square metres on one battery charge, with a separate tank for dirty water and a self-cleaning mop roller.

None of these carry a confirmed EU retail price yet, and Bosch’s release does not give exact shelf dates beyond the September 2026 window already stated for the HomeCafé Serie 4.

Why the framing matters

Bosch pitched the whole stand under a “Quality. A 20-percent lower production carbon footprint on an oven is a manufacturer-stated figure, not an independently audited one, but it is at least a concrete number tied to a named comparison model rather than a vague sustainability claim.

What this means if you’re shopping this autumn

If you’re after an at-home espresso setup, the HomeCafé Serie 4 is worth waiting for if you specifically want portafilter control rather than a bean-to-cup machine’s push-button simplicity, since it demands more manual technique for a payoff in customisation.
